The merlin mr850 is a roller door opener. The opener will be located on the side of the door and uses the (merlin+) remote handset. Not (merlin+2.0)
If your opener is located near the center of the ceiling, with a shaft that runs to the front wall, then what you have is a sectional door opener. Instructions for a sectional door are not the same as for a roller door opener
General notice about remote control handsets
Remote controls are not universal. You cannot mix and match. You must have a remote that was made to match up with your openers Make and Model.
For example, a (merlin+) handset is not interchangeable with a (merlin+ 2.0) handset, even though they look the same. Merlin green is not interchangeable with Merlin blue.
How to program your remote to Merlin MR850 garage door opener
- Press and hold the button on the remote control handset.
- With your other hand, press and release the learn LRN button on the front of the opener.
- Once the lights on the motor flashs you can release the button on the remote control.
- Press and release your remote handset button to test.
- Be sure that the path of the door is clear.
How to code in multiple doors to one remote control handset
The merlin+ remote handset comes with 3 buttons.
Button 1 can be used for door 1 and buttons 2 and 3 for doors 2 and 3.
To code in the second button to the second door then go to the opener that runs that door and apply the same process above to the second button on your remote.
Repeat the process for the 3rd door on the 3rd button.
How to program your wall button to the MR850 Opener.
The CM128 original wireless wall button comes with 2 buttons. For a single door or primary door you will program the top button into the opener.
Use the same instructions listed above. If you have already mounted the wall button then have someone press and hold the button while you press and release the learn LRN button on the opener.
How to delete MR 850 remotes from the opener
Press and hold the LRN button for 10 seconds.
When the orange indicator light goes out then all handsets have been deleted.
Release the button. You can now program your remote handset using the instructions above.
How to program a wireless keypad to your Merlin MR850 opener.
Press and release the yellow learn button on the opener.
The indicator light will illuminate.
Enter your 4 digit number on the keypad.
Press and hold the enter button on the keypad until the opener light blinks.
How to change the PIN on your keypad.
Enter your existing pin into the keypad.
Press and hold the # button until the light blinks twice.
Enter your new PIN into the keypad then press the enter button.Test your new PIN by entering your PIN then the enter button.
